When we got to SD the fun began right away in the form of Beka's family's favorite activity....CAMPING!
This is the drive up with Rosy, Beka's little sister, and her best friend in the back!
Oh beautiful California
We are here! oh, wait, are we? we had some trouble finding the entrance of the camp ground.
We finally found it! let the fun begin!
It was VERY cold the first night of camping, but Beka was prepared from the TN winters she had endured.
Mornings were cold as well. The first night was MISERABLE. No one slept, and we all were sore, tired, and a bit grumpy to start the day off, Team Oakley included.
But eventually we all decided to make the best of it, and enjoy the outdoors with a hike.
We went hiking in the Ana Borrego desert to see all the marvels.
That is one Happy Hiker!
Here is the bunch! Each year the family gets bigger and bigger :)
The Pictographs are ancient Indian drawings that have been around forever. They are very cool to see in person.
Then we ended the day's outing with seeing one of the most breathtaking views we had ever seen. It spanned for miles and miles of gorgeous scenery.
But of course, this was the best scenery of all :)
After the hike we went by the local grocery shop to pick up a few supplies. That night was new year's eve, and we wanted to celebrate it right! The store has donkey's in the front, and they are fun to see every year.
Then we drove back to camp for a fun night, and left the next day, fulfilled with joy of camping, eagerly looking forward to showing, and this view in our memory until next yet.
Back in town we enjoyed hanging out with family, and being in America's finest city.
Beka caught this photo at her sister's where team Oakley was staying. This says "life is good".
On one of the last days of the trip, Beka and her sisters got to spend some time together. They wanted to do something that all of them would enjoy, and where they could bond. Pedicure? Massage? Nope, the Ninteman girls went Geocaching!
And thus our time in SD came to a close. We said bye to family with sad hearts. It is always hard to leave the place and people where you feel most at home. SD bid us an equally sad farewell, and gave a famous SD sunset to remember our time by.
Next stop was vegas to visit more friends, and to stop in and check on a house that Team Oakley rents out.
You can almost hear the slot machines before you even step off of the plane! Oh Vegas, you are such an odd place.
It is always very weird for Team Oakley to come back to Vegas. It was the first place that Michael and Beka called 'home' as a married unit, so it is sentimental, but it is such a unique place. There are lots of mixed emotions about this crazy town.
We spent two days and one night in sin city. We saw some very special people while we were there, and got to remember all the fun things that we did while living in the world that is Las Vegas.
Then it was back to where we call 'home' now, Nashville TN.
We always get very thoughtful as we travel. Who knows what adventures Team Oakley will encounter in the next few years. But we are very happy to have them, and to share them with you.
Until the next one!
Team Oakley
