Scavenger date

So Team Oakley is often very busy. We do not get a whole lot of time to go on dates. So when we can, we have been switching off with who plans the date. Well, it was Beka's turn, and in the planning stage, she and Michael were driving and she was going on about how she loves mad libs. She asked Michael to come up with some. Use an adjective, then a noun, and here is what he came up with.

slick rick, little giant, funny dog, smelly rose, lumpy pillow, thumpy song, enormous shaft, rickety ball, super sign, dirty line, wrong way, moldy wood, old man, flaky waffle, oily glove, happy cat, loaded fence, skinny money, wet rock, weathered house, long face, speedy turtle, tired tree, fuzzy baby and jumbo shrimp.

Having this list, Beka made a little scrapbook, and the next day we went to downtown Franklin to have a scavenger hunt! The rules were: we both have to agree the item fits the descrition, and 2: one of us has to be in the photo. Please enjoy our results (we had to be sneaky as some store owners do not like photos being taken in their shops!)

We did not manage to find smelly rose, jumbo shrimp, oily glove, or dirty line due to running out of time, but we will continue on another date! You should try this fun date with your sweetie sometime too! It was free, and totally fun. We hope you enjoyed our adventure!

Drive to Tupelo, MS

Beka travels for work, and she just got a new shop in Tupelo, MS. It is only about 3-4 hours away, and it is only one night stay, so it is not a long trip, but this time Michael got to join her! They drove through the beautiful Nachez trace which is a nature preserve that stretches all through TN and MS. It is gorgeous. It is very well taken care of and a pleasure to visit, picnic, hike, or drive through, and it is all free!

There is a huge bridge on the way that was under construction, so we had to go over it really slowly, and it was magnificent! We were so high up and the water was so blue and so pretty. On the way back over the bridge there was a barge going under the bridge so we slowed down to a crawl to watch it go under, and we got the captain to honk the horn! or sound the whistle or whatever you call it. It was pretty cool!

We had a great time. The only thing not so enjoyable was the no air conditioning in our car, and the half tan Beka got from our nifty sun roof and the smart choice of a tube top on the way there :) When we arrived at the hotel, the skies opened up to a down pour! And Michael, being the gentleman that he is, unloaded the car in a monsoon, and was soaked to the bone by the time he was done. But ever all it was a really cool trip, and a special treat that Michael got to go. We hope you enjoy our adventure!

camping- Henry Horton State park

We love camping! well, at least Beka loves camping. Michael is getting more and more into it as they go. He is a good sport, and better at it than he gives himself credit for. And now that it is not so cold we can go and enjoy this BEAUTIFUL state that we currently live in.

We went camping at Henry Horton state park, about 30-45 mins south of Spring Hill. We had a really great time. The drive down was so pretty, and the day was perfect.

Do you like our camera skills? yes that is the hood of our car :)

When we got to the campsite, we baby sat some of our munchkin friends for a bit. Wes is 3 (he also goes by his super hero name, Faster man), and Bailee is 7. They were so much fun to hang out with. Wes wanted to play "checkers" or connect four. He also wanted to play "ten faces" or phase 10. We went on walks, and they helped us set the tent up. Bailee was hammer girl, and Wes was the safety patrol man. We had a ton of fun. They said the darnedest things the whole time! I wish I had a tape recorder. Some of my favorites from Wes were:

Beka: You tired buddy?
Wes: yeah
Beka: you want me to hold you?
Wes: yeah...sometimes when I say I am tired, what I really mean is I want someone to hold me... (so Beka picks him up)
Wes: so, let play what ever I say, you do!

Wes: I have to go pee (points to our friend brian) you can take me!
Brian:......alright, lets go
Wes: sometimes when I have to pee, I just pee in my woods, but this time I will go to the bathroom.

Michael: What's your favorite song?
Wes: Imma be...I dance to it and I do the airplane and the slow robot (and he sure did!). I also like the gotta get get song (boom boom pow by black eyed peas)

Wes and michael playing "checkers"

We were walking Wes and Bailee's dog trussel at one point (a boxer) and another dog from another campsite lunged towards trussel and broke his tie he was tied up to and came straight at us (and he was a big scary dog) so  I grabbed both kids and michael took the leash and with his food shielded the dog from biting trussel until the owner could wrangle him. It scared everyone and made the kids cry, but no one got hurt. Wes now tells everyone at church that Pastor Michael kicked a dog right in the head! hard!
hahahah, we had a great time, and many adventures, and we hope you have enjoyed them.
