Team Oakley goes on a walk

We members of Team Oakley love our walks. Beka just loves to be outside, as does Emery, and Michael loves to be with his wife and boy, so walks we go!  We walk regularly, and these walks often turn into mini adventures.

So we thought that we would share a day in walking with the Oakleys with you all!

This day Beka and Emery went on a mid day walk while Michael was still working. It was warm, but not too warm. We walked through a neighborhood nearby that has sidewalks and cute things to see. We went to the end of one street where there is a tiny pond. Emery was very interested in the sights, and Beka’s water bottle.

There were geese in the pond, and they were so fun to watch swim all in a line!

After we had our fill of geese we went on with our walk to the other side of the pond. We caught the geese coming out of the pond and watched them until the mom got protective and started coming after us. We quickly left.

Then we saw a fun ladybug.

We made a loop around the local playground, then headed home before it got too hot. We waved at the aggressive geese from a distance as we passed by.

We passed a field of corn as we walked back to the house. It is fun to see it grow each day. It grows so fast!

Emery and Beka played until Michael was off work, then we all had dinner. It was veggie pot pie for everyone, even Emery! He wasted no time in eating all that he could shove into his mouth...and nose...and ear....and his whole face.

Then we let our food settle and the sun go down a while. Michael and Emery played Music to pass the time.

Once the shadows were out, and it was not super hot, Team Oakley of three set out on an evening walk. We headed North of our house instead of south like the walk before. We went towards the rail road.

Then we walked to the Ewell farm and looked at the cows.

The cows on this farm are VERY loud. When Beka was pregnant her and Michael took MANY night walks to keep fit and ease the pain of pregnancy. It would be pitch black out, and through the crickets and frogs a loud "MOOOOOOOOO" would shock them! The cows from this farm were the loud mouths that scared them on those late night preggo walks.

And here was the man himself! Now we get to walk with this snuggle face in real life on the outside!

He was very thirsty on this walk. He LOVES Beka's water bottle.

The sun was setting over some corn fields near by. It was a very pretty sight. Team Oakley loves the south for moments like this.

Down the road was more small businesses and farms.

Emery was having a good time.

He is learning how to wave, so he is doing it to everyone who gives him a second of attention. What a little ham. We love this little ham!!!

He took a friend with him on the walk. This bunny friend was given to him by a sweet girl from our church, and Emery loves his little gift.

Ah the views around us. We were amazed, as always, as the creation that surrounds us.

This is the train that goes right by our house. Like, RIGHT by. It blows it's whistle SO LOUD too. Emery and Michael have gotten used to it, and can sleep right though it at this point, but it still shocks Beka.

On the way back to the house, Beka had fun playing  iphotographer with her phone.

When we got back to our sweet little Belle street, we decided to walk to the end of the street, which dead ends, and turn around instead of going straight home. We wanted to make our walk last as long as we could.

When we walked by our house, we saw something that did not belong. Do you see it on top of the black volvo? It is a kitty. There are lots of strays around here, and they all want to live with us. If Michael were flying solo, they all would. But thankfully Beka is there to keep him sane and sanitary. She is a sight when she walks outside, sees a stray, and yells "you don't live here!" It is so funny.

This is our little street. We love it.

And there is another kitty! We started a game of count the kitties, and we ended on five. Five stray kitties.

After the kitties were seen and the walk was walked, we made our way home. For real this time.

We love this little house. It is small, but very full of great memories.

And there was a kitty of our own watching through the door! That is silver, the guardian of the house.

And it is hard to see, but there was a scrappy kitty looking through the window at us too. They missed us!

It was a great walk. It was one of many walks that we take. We are glad that we could share it with you all. We hope this inspires all of you to get out and go walking too! It is not only great exercise, but a fantastic way to unplug and spend some time with the ones you love most.

Michael and Beka thought the fun was over for the day, but Emery had a trick up his sleeve. When we got inside, Emery showed us he could stand up!!!!

He is getting so big! It was evident to Michael and Beka to bask in all the moments that we can, go on all the walks that we can walk, and take all the milestones with joy and pride. We were in awe of our little guy, and this accomplishment was a great way to end our day.

Goodnight and happy walks to all!

Love,
Team Oakley
