Country ham festival, 2011

Well friends, it is that time of year again. The leaves are changing, the weather is getting cooler, and that all means that fall is on its way! With Fall in TN comes the country ham festival, and that makes everyone happy...especially this guy :)

That is right! Emery was so happy to be going to one of Team Oakley's favorite festival of the year. There is always fun to be had, and many things to see and do. We always feel a little more 'southern' when we get to go.

This festival is exactly what is sounds like, a celebration of all things ham! The fair was decorated with all things pigs, and there is a ham judging festival, and vendors selling all things ham goods from ham biscuits to big slabs of ham!

Along with all salty slabs of mean in all directions, there are many vendors selling homemade crafts and goods.

There was a vendor selling homemade TN honey, and had this really cool bee hive! We were mesmerized for a while.

The festival is held on some land behind the local Children's home. There is a beautiful lake and tons of beautiful land.

The decor was appropriately fall, and it made us so excited to the season! Pumpkin pie, hot chocolate ad cider, scarfs and cuddles await!

There was a HUGE kids play area with bounce houses, a petting zoo, and even a truck where you can go in and play video games.

Emery was THRILLED to be there.

The vendor who does the petting zoo are some friends of ours, and they asked michael to man the gate for a few minuets while they ran to the bathroom. Michael was glad to help, and actually had some fun :)

We walked for hours, saw lots of our neighbors from the town, and our favorite part was showing off the baby! Lots of people had not seen him yet, and they were all so excited to share in our joy. We were proud proud parents, willing to let everyone bask in our finest creation :)

Emery is so cool :) and so was our day. It was a successful country ham festival, and we cannot wait until next year! Emery will be one then!

Thanks for sharing in this adventure!

Love,
Team Oakley
