Emery's Auntie's visit!/Southern Fried Food Festival

Emery is getting his first visitors! All three of Beka's sisters flew out to TN to see his new squishy face! There was no lack of love and and kisses to go around, starting right as they got off the plane!

Auntie Rosy settled in to love on him, and they were instantly best friends. Even though this little guy made Rosy no longer the baby of the family, she welcomed him with open auntie arms that were ready to cuddle! This was Rosy's first plane ride, and first time in TN.

Auntie Roxanne is a nanny in San Diego, so she was not unfamiliar with loving little ones. Burping, Diaper changes, and even dealing with spit up was just another day on the job for her. The only thing she had to get used to was that Emery was so little compared to the one year old she always hangs out with!

Auntie Ro was also no stranger to little ones. She works with kids everyday, and was elated to finally meet her sweet Nephew. She is the one who started calling him squishy face (that name is sticking). Emery loved to lock eyes with auntie Ro and have long, intelligent conversations with her. Whenever auntie Ro would make a joke or misquote a movie line (something she is famous for) Emery would put his little hand on his face, and we all would say "oh aunt Ro!". He already loves her, and her silly antics (or Auntics :)

All of Beka's siblings are so close. There are three brothers that could not come out. The seven of them have always been each other's best friends. It has been VERY hard for Beka to move away from them when she and Michael got married and headed away to Vegas, then to Nashville. So for her sisters to be out here and share the most joyous time in Team Oakley's life made Beka and Michael elated! There were countless moments of laughter and love. This was one of them, and Michael quickly grabbed Beka's phone to capture the moment.

All our lives we somehow find ourselves close. Our Mom would leave us in our separate beds and separate rooms at night, and in the morning all of us were in one single bed! Nothing has changed :)

Emery was not only spoiled with Love and attention while his Aunties were here, but Auntie Ro took him shopping at Babies R Us. He tried on a hats, but he was only a week old, and nothing would fit him!

Auntie Ro ended up buying him this cute halloween outfit. He is our little spooker!

While the Aunties were here Beka and Michael decided to show them some southern fun, so we all headed out to the Southern Fried Food Festival!

Emery donned his overalls, and we were ready to hit the fair!

Michael and Beka did not buy that little thing that holds a newborn head up, so we had to improvise for a while. Emery actually like it, and it was super cute. This was also the first time for us to use Emery's stroller. We loved it!

The southern fried food festival was in Columbia TN, one town south of where Michael and Beka live. It was in the town square.

There were vendors all over with homemade and unique items. Rosy is sporting a cute fedora from one of the sellers.

There were some funky cool and country bands playing on each side of the square. One was playing brick house, and one line of the song was all it took for the four sisters and Emery to get down and bust a move :)

We thought that Emery would wake up with two loud stages playing, but all the noise in the Oakley home and well prepared him for that kind of volume, and he slept through the whole thing.

Michael works for a haunted woods during the month of October as a character, and the acting coach. His friends were there in costume to promote the woods.

Beka's sisters can make friends with anyone...

But, again, they are each other's best friends :)

After walking around the fair once and seeing the booths and bands, we finally got to the heart of it; the fried food! Funnel cakes, fried oreos, fried green tomatoes, and so much more!

Emery was not hungry.

Ro got some home-brewed sarsaparilla to share with a fun mug to take home! She is getting married on St. Patrick's Day next year, and the sisters have had a blast dreaming up her Irish themed wedding while they were all together. This mug was perfect to fuel the inspiration.

Of all the tasty treats to be had, the Aunties finally decided on Fruit Nachos. They said it was a good choice.

After the fair, we all headed to Taco Express for dinner so Michael's family could spend time the Aunties as well. Emery got passed around from person to person, and we all ate, drank, laughed, and enjoyed ourselves.

The last night the aunties were here was full of mixed emotions. They cherished the time they were able to spend with Beka, Michael, and the precious Emery, but they also knew tomorrow would bring a plane ride, and the blues.

The final day the Aunties were here we took them down to Hillsboro village to see the shops and have some lunch. We went to the pancake pantry, which Beka has wanting to visit for the almost three years they have been here. It was so good, and a great end to the southern food experience to the San Diegans.

Emery liked the pancake pantry as well.

Rosy wants to go to Vanderbilt for medical school in the future, so we could not pass by the opportunity to take the photo in front of the campus.

The day that was filled with fun and food soon turned into goodbyes as we took the Aunties to the airport. None of them wanted to go, and neither did Beka, Michael, or Emery. Goodbyes are never fun, but the trip was, so we all mustered up smiles, and lots of baby kisses.

Goodbye Auntie Rosy :(

Oh how sad Emery was!

Goodbye Auntie Roxanne :(

Good bye Auntie Ro :(

One last sloppy baby kiss for the road.

Oh how sad that flight and drive home were. But we all had a fantastic visit, and the aunties were able to experience the love that is Emery while he was still fresh and new. There will be a lifetime of getting to know each other, so it makes everyone feel so much better about leaving.

We loved the time and memories, and hope you all enjoyed them as well!

Love,
Team Oakley
