Hiking with Roxanne!

After our visit to SD in January, Team Oakley brought back quite the souvinier..... Roxanne!

Beka's little sister came back with Team Oakley from America's finest city to check out MTSU in TN. While she was here, Team Oakley took her on a hike. We LOVE to hike, and we wanted to get Emery accustomed to being outdoors.

It was still a bit chilly in ole TN, so Beka got her oh-so-cute headband and scarf on from her mom (check out more of her Mom's handmade goods at http://www.etsy.com/people/Myfriendcaroline). Shameless plug :D

Emery did some ever-important playing while everyone got their warmies on.

We drove to our destination, and had to do something EXTREMELY important once we got there....Emery needed a bottle! We have kept him on a schedule for months, and it keeps him happy and healthy. However he knows his schedule all too well, and it was time to eat, so eat he did.

He was snuggled and warm, so we just propped the bottle up to keep him cozy. Isn't the life of a baby hard? ;)

Once the bottle was started, we went on our way. Michael's parents met us for the hike. We all were having a great time!

Then the trail got adventurous! We needed to cross a great divide to continue on our way! Oh the peril!

We got our rations for the time we would be away, and set out on a journey that we were not sure if we would make it back from. Many had tried this feat, few had succeeded.

Against all odds, we made it across! Everyone made it intact and no one ended up wet!

On the other side of the great white rapids was a vast open field that lead up to a civil war memorial. We stopped before the memorial to snap a few cutesie photos (as all great and brave explorers always do).

Yay for sisters! Beka is VERY close to her siblings, so having one of them out to experience her world means so much! It gives her such joy!

Emery was exhausted from the great and mighty journey that we had all taken across the pacific ocean, so we let him get some nutrients from the rest of his milk. He was going to need it if we were going to cross the river of doom again. Which, we had to. Our car was still in the parking lot...

Pappy was so exausted from the five day journey that he was delirious with fatigue. He started wearing Emery's hat... it was a scary time, but he quickly snapped out of it.

The views were worth the great toil of the journey. It was such a sight. Even in the bleakest of winters TN is still beautiful.

After all the fun was had, we managed to defy all odds yet again and we made it across the roaring river to safety and the stroller waiting on the other side. After that feat, it was an uneventful stroll back to safety and our SUV. Even though it was death-defying, it was a fun time. Roxanne go to see something new, Emery got some 'outside time' and we all got to risk our lives.

Thanks for sharing our perilous adventure! I am sure there will be more to report very soon!

Love,
Team Oakley
