Atlanta! the drive out 8/22/12

Team Oakley's fall gets really REALLY busy soon. So before all those shenanigans start, we wanted to take a small vacation as a family..

Atlanta here we come!

We packed up the car, grabbed the cooler, and off we went!

It was pretty early, and we woke Emery up to get into the car. He was confused.

Emery fell asleep quickly, so it was just Beka and Michael, on the open road!

The drive was very pretty!

We stopped to get gas at a remote location. Said location sold, gifts, groceries, and fireworks....like all shops should :D

Beka was antsy so she grabbed Emery and started exploring around the gas station. There was a sign that for an old baptist church, but it was no longer there.

What was there was the graveyard of said church. Right by the gas station, just sitting there. Beka has always loved graveyards, especially in the south. There is an eire old beauty to them that is always rich with history and vibrant with dormant memories.

This monument was for a whole family. Each side had the lives of family member on it.

Then there were smaller graves, some unmarked, and some for children.

Emery was not sure what was going on, but he was happy to be in Mamma's arms, and out of the car, smelling the fresh air.

There was a big grave in the back of the graveyard.

It was not something we expected to come across, this graveyard, but we had so much fun exploring and getting a glimpse into the lives of strangers who had passed.

After our mini adventure, we were back on the road again!

GA state line! woohoo!

After driving for a few more hours, We stopped to get some coffee. Emery woke up again, but he had his elephant to keep him company. He sure is one happy guy.

When we got him up to change his diaper, this is the carnage we found. What can we say, he likes to party.

We went into a Cracker barrel to stretch our legs, and we know that we can count on some clean changing tables there.

After the caffeine, and a clean diaper, back on the road we went! Emery did not cry once with being taken out and put back into the car each time. He was SUCH a good sport!

Emery stayed awake for a while on this stretch, and we saw some pretty cool things on the road. This was a truck of chickens. Not something you see everyday.

Our road fuel!

We also saw this sign, which made us all laugh.

Then we looked back, and he was out again!

Finally, after about four hours, we saw it! Downtown ATL! We made it!

It was such an easy drive. It felt like it flew by! We were so thankful Emery did so well. No tears, no melt downs, no tantrums. Just lots and lots of sleeping and smiles.

Thanks for coming along with us on our drive! Next stop, Ikea!

Stay tuned!

Love,

Team Oakley
