Atlanta - the hotel! 8-22-12

Hello Atlanta!!!

We have spent a great day in this peachy city, and now we are on our way to our hotel for the night.

We are staying for free in Atlanta. How you may ask? Well, Beka travels for work, so she racks up the hotel points that way. She also works hard to get points through dining programs, secret shopping, and online surveys. It is tiring and tedious, but it is worth it do do fun things like this for her family.

But being that we are staying off of points, we were not sure what the hotel would look like, or the quality of where we were staying. We were pleasantly surprised with our first hotel. It was so clean and beautiful. It was newly renovated, and that is always a plus.

Our room was so nice and cozy. It was clean, well decorated, and very comfortable.

Emery enjoyed it. He was ready for some relaxing after a long day. He quickly made friends with his favorite toy in the hotel...the AC unit. It fascinated him!

Our view out of the window was the hotel pool. We are going swimming!

We got ready for the pool, and off we went for a dip.

Down at the pool, Emery was, again, ready to relax on the sun chairs.

After some R&R, he wanted to hit the pool. Let's go guys!

No really, let's go!

Emery was going to dive in with or without us!

So Michael put on his floaties (bragger alert...these swim aids are 25$ in stores, and we snagged one at goodwill for 4$! Score!)

"Do I have to wear this?"

The floaties were not the most comfortable, but better safe than sorry. Plus, how cute is this boy in floaties!

Into the pool they go! Beka didn't want to go in, so Michael took Emery. It was a bit cold, but they were swim champions.

Michael and Emery went all over that pool.

Beka was happy to take some time to herself. Not a bad end to the day.

Once the Emery had had his fill of the sparkling blue, we did a hand off. Beka dried and snuggled the water bug while Michael swam by himself for a bit longer.

Once everyone was out and dry, we headed back to our room. We stopped at the lobby for the manager's reception and got some snacks and drinks on the way.

Once back in the room we set up Emery's tent and played for a while before bedtime.

After we were all tired from our day and our post-pool-play session, we gave Emery his bottle, and set up sleeping quarters for the night.

Emery has slept in his own room since he was about two months old. If he is in the same room as us, he does not sleep as well. If he sees us, then he wants to be with us.

This poses a problem when we all are sleeping in the same hotel room, so we had to be crafty. We set up Emery's pack and play in the corner, then made a tent over it with blankets. It made it so that he could not see us, and he could sleep without interruption of light or us moving around. We were just really winging it. We didn't really know if it would work or not...

BUT IT TOTALLY DID! We put him down in his cover-cave, and he fell asleep almost immediately! He had his turtle night light from his Auntie Ro, and his bunny, and he sleep sound for his usual 12 hours. What a champion!

We were so glad there were no sleeping issues. All three of us were pretty worn out from our full day of fun, travel, shopping, and Atlanta adventures. Off to dream land we go! There are more adventures to be had tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Thanks for sharing our trip with us.

Love,

Team Oakley
