Atlanta trip - Ikea! 8/24/12

Team Oakley is in Atlanta!

Our first stop is one of our all time favorite home stores - IKEA!!!!

There is no Ikea in Nashville, and Beka had a gift card from Christmas from her Dad and Momma Gail, and she has been waiting to spend it for months! We were all very excited to be there!

We found a spot right up front with the family friendly parking. Michael said "Isn't Ikea thoughtful!?!". He might love Ikea more then Beka...

Emery was excited to be out or the car, and he was ready to go!

We did a quick change in the family bathroom (which was so clean and big and nice!), and got some lunch in the cafe. Michael LOVES the cafe! It is not too vegan/vegetarian friendly, but they have a few things Beka can eat, so she likes it too, but def not as much as Michael. HE LOVES IKEA FOOD! It also helps that it is super cheap.

While Michael got the food, Beka and Emery played in the kids area of the cafe. Beka let Emery loose to be a kid, and Emery was all about it! He is such a big boy! We remember so clearly when he was small and could not even roll over. He was just a loaf of baby. He just laid there and looked around, twitching his arms sometimes because he could not control his movements yet.....and now we just set him down in a real kids play area, and let him go, and he can play on his own!!! It is amazing how far he has come in less than a year. We are some proud parents, that's for sure. We try not to get sad about him growing up. We do not want to look so far with sadness into the past that we miss the present right in front of us. We have always committed to living in the moment. We admittingly get nostalgic sometimes, but we are so amazed with how he learns and develops EVERYDAY!

He owned that play area! He read some books.

He built some houses.

Then he destroyed some houses that he built.

Then he went exploring.

He clapped his hands and cheered himself on.

Then he discovered a very cool and modern chair (I mean it is Ikea).

He did all of that in the span of ten minutes. He was a busy boy! He worked up an appetite being so awesome, so now it was time to eat.

Michael got his usual, swedish meatballs. Emery got some mac and vegetables with lingonberry juice (which he LOVED), and Beka got some penne with red sauce and a green salad. Good eats all around.

Emery saw the food and immediately started signing 'more'. He was HUNGRY!

After Emery ate his food he went back to playing while we finished our food. There were other kids playing too, and he did wonderful with them. He was much smaller than the other kids, but he did great with them.

After lunch it was off to shop!

Ikea's shopping carts were fantastic! They had the best, cool new wheels. They just floated! So Michael and Emery went round and round in the cart. They both had a fun time.

Then we got into the elevator, and Emery thought that was pretty fun too.

After the elevator, we realized that we forgot the front pack, so Michael went back down to the car to grab it. While he was gone, Beka and Emery played on the furniture.

Emery liked the soft pillows. He "gave them some lovies", as we call it.

And he gave the couch some lovies.

When Michael came back with the front pack, Emery wanted nothing to do with it, so on the shoulders he went! Emery loves to ride on Mom and Dad's shoulders.

It's blurry, but he gave dad some lovies too for letting him ride on his shoulders. Emery Oakley is sure full of lots of love, and he loves to give that love away. What a precious boy he is. We are so blessed.

After seeing lots of fun things, and being on Dad's shoulders, Emery agreed to the front pack. Then he got silly with it.

When we went into the kids section, we found so many fun things for Emery!!! The gift card was for Beka, but all she wanted to buy with it were things for Emery!

We found the most awesome Castle tent! Michael went inside to tour it.  We did end up getting this and a few more things for Emery, but Michael convinced Beka that she should get some things for herself too, so the whole gift card was not spend on Emery, just lots of it :)

After the show room we went into the shop to grab what we wanted.

Emery gave the rugs some lovies.

We bought a few things, but did not use up our whole gift card. We all got pretty tired, and we are here for three days, so instead of trying to cram it all in today, we bought what we wanted and said we would come back later to spend the rest. It was a very fun trip, and Emery was AMAZING the whole time, but we did not want to push our luck. So we checked out, and headed to the hotel for the night.

It was a super fun day, and we were trilled to be in Atlanta. Off to our hotel! Stay tuned for the fun we will have there!

Thanks for reading!

Love,

Team Oakley
