Thompson's Station Park 8-16-12

If you read our last post, you know that Beka works out of town. Well, coming home from her last trip, she really missed her boys! So when she got home we all got into the car and headed to the park for some family fun before the sun went down.

There are some great parks near us. They are all clean, safe, and well kept. We are VERY thankful for this.

Our favorite park is Thompson's station park.  It has a mini stage, covered picnic areas, lots of open space, a great running trail, and....

a HUGE play area!

There is a sandbox with tractors, a swing set, a playground....and a train!

We tried to get a photo with Emery before we started playing, but he was WAY to excited to go start the fun. He was fixated on the playground.

"Move, Dad, I see something cool!"

Off to the train we went! Emery is getting very good at exploring and engaging his curiosity and imagination, so all we had to do is put him down, and off he went! We are so thankful he is brave and smart enough to push his limits.

Michael got really into playing with Emery. Boys will be boys.

Emery was having a pretty good time. Gosh we love this boy!

We were not keen enough to put shoes on our little toddler, but Emery was walking around anyways! Dirty feet means happy baby.

Emery was being such a ham to Mom as she was taking some photos of him.

There were kids playing soccer (Emery and Beka's favorite) behind Beka, and it captured Emery's attention.

Here are the Oakley boys, being silly!

After playing near the caboose, they went to the front of the train to be the conductors!

Ladies and gentlemen, the world's cutest train conductor!

Emery, how are you so tall?

Oh, we found out his secret! That is daddy commitment.

Michael, ever so gracefully, decided to come out of the front of the train with Emery on him.... He quickly was shouting "this was a bad idea!", but he was committed, so he had to go with it! #daddyswagger

After the train, we rode a horse!

Emery was a bit unsure of being on the horse himself, so again, Michael committed. He is such a good daddy.

After Daddy's reassurance, Emery had the courage to go at it on his own again. Such a brave boy!

This is his stink face :)

Hi mom!

After the horse, we went to the car to drive around.

Emery enjoyed playing car!

After the car we went to the slide! Michael daddy'd up and went down the slide with Emery.

They liked the slide :)

Then Emery wanted some snuggle time with Mom, so Michael became a child for five minutes, and went to, as Beka used to call it as a kid, the spider web.

Then it was time for Emery's favorite...the swing!!!! This is also Beka and Michael's favorite, because it makes Emery so smiley and happy!

AHHH! You just cannot beat this face!

After the swing, we did some bar exercises.

Then Beka, in such Mom grace and love, accidentally hit Emery in the face with the bar. Whoops! Sorry buddy. He was fine. Score one for Mom.

Yay for Team Oakley play time! It was so fun!

After the park we went home, and let the breeze flow through Emery's hair, and he loved it! He has so much glorious red hair.

He grabbed the glasses right off Beka's face, and put them on! He is such a fly baby.

And this was his hair afterwards :)

Then we went home and decided to unwind with some TV. We have Xbox with Kinnect, and it has voice command. Emery likes to help with this.

It was such a wonderful evening. Beka missed her boys, and we were all so glad to spend some time outside together. We recommend you go to the local park soon. It's free, and a great way to get some sun and have some fun.

Thanks for sharing this adventure with us!

Love,

Team Oakley
