4-13-13 Garden - step 1

Hello my fellow green thumbed friends!

Team Oakley has really come to love gardening out here in the south. We have learned what does and does not work. And because we renting, this year we are starting with a container garden!

We had gotten a Walmart gift card from Beka's Dad and Momma Gail. We knew exactly what we were going to get!

Emery was VERY excited to pick our our pots, and the soil! He loves to garden almost as much as his Momma.

And here was the finished product! We have basil, oregano, parsley, cilantro, rosemary and dill! And some sunflowers for beauty.

We decided to make Emery's chore be the watering of the plants. He loves to do it too! He grabs his shades, knows where the watering can is, then goes at it with a sense of pride and determination! It's just too precious!

He's on the move to get his watering can! Watch out world! Emery takes his job seriously!!!

"hi momma!"

He found his can, and he is ready to rock!

But how can you hold a cracker, sunglasses, and a watering can? Well just look at this stud! He can multitask with the best of them!

After many weeks of Emery diligently watering out plants, we had lift off! These are the sunflowers just pushing through the dirt. So exciting! When I showed Emery he yelled "Emery did it!"

But Emery did not stop there! Everyday he watered...

And watered...

And watered....

And watered!

It has been a REALLY fun time sharing the importance of growing things, have responsibilities, and getting your hands dirty. We love our little guy, and we love that he loves to grow!

If you can do a garden, to any capacity, we recommend it. Not only can you save $ on produce and herbs, but it is full of life lessons and a sense of fulfillment. The feeling you get gardening, that being centered with mother nature feeling, that is priceless.

Check back to see how we are growing soon!

Love, Team Oakley
