4-6-13 Mule day

Yes folks, it's that time of year again, when the south celebrates all things...mule!

The mule (which is cross between a donkey and a horse) has a long standing history in the south. They are tough and reliable, so they get a parade every year!

Everything is new for Emery, therefor it is new to us as well! We get just as excited to see his reactions and expressions as we do seeing things for ourselves! It is magical to look through a child's eyes. It truly is.

We were all ready for the mule parade! It was a bit hot, so hats, sunscreen and water bottles were a must.

Oh, and a banana. Duh.

And the parade starts! Mules, donkey's horses, beauty queens, business...you never know who is going to float on by.

Emery sat very nicely in his hippo chair for about half the parade. It was hard for him to see what was going on, so he got board pretty fast.

So Beka took him on a walk up the streets of down town Columbia. It was so fun to watch him explore! Every door he must knock, every step he must climb, every bench he must sit, and every dog he must pet. There is never a dull moment!

"locked Momma...no keys?"

Then towards the end of the parade Emery got the choice view...on Daddy's shoulders!

After the parade we went to lunch at the cracker barrel. Or as Emery says "Berrrrel".

Even in an old country store and restaurant Emery is as cool and hip as can be. That's what we call toddler swag!

During our meal Emery insisted on eating the lemons out of Beka's iced tea. He likes them, but they don't always like him.

Overall it was such a sweet (and sour) day. If you are ever in the south for Mule day, go check it out! It is worth the people watching for sure. Plus you can go home and brag about how cultured you are now :)

Thanks for coming along with us!

Love

Team Oakley
