Egg-stravagan-zoo!!! 4-7-12

Team Oakley has been doing lots of Easter preparation, and we have not been able to celebrate Easter ourselves, as a family. So we decided on the day before Easter we would go and have a day, just the three of us!

We were gifted zoo passes from Michael's parents, so we were going to go up there and have a fun day. But wait, there's more! We found out the night before that they were going to have an egg hunt! It's called Egg-stravagan-zoo! And we were going to be a part of it!

We woke up and got Emery dressed in his Tiger onesie from his Grandma and Grandpop. They bought it for him at the San Diego zoo, so we figured it was pretty appropriate for the day ahead.

We arrived at the zoo, and it was packed! There were so many people coming to celebrate, and we wondered if we had made a mistake taking part in the craziness. I mean, Emery did not even know what was going on....

Then Michael saw this sign.....and it was all over. He was more excited than Emery!!!

We had a few minutes before the age appropriate hunt, so Emery and Michael took some time to burp before we got our hunt on!

And yes, Emery does have a tail. Thanks for asking :)

He was so adorable! People were literally stopping to tell us how cute our child is. We agreed, of course, and glowed with parent pride.

The staff at the zoo were almost done putting all the eggs out, so we took our places!

And we are off! Here is video of Emery's first egg hunt! He did awesome!

Beka was so proud of him!

Emery got a prize bag for getting some eggs, and he could care less. He LOVED his eggs though! They were empty and had been touched by many and laid in the dirt and grass, so he loved to eat them. Yay.

In the bag there was candy, a coloring book, and a dino duckie! Emery loved the duckie! And by loved, I mean he like to eat him.

After the hunt we had some lunch. All that hunting got us hungry! It made Emery more thirsty, so he took to Mom's water bottle.

Beka was glad they had a black bean burger at the zoo restaurant, and Michael was glad they had...anything. He is not a picky man.

Emery was a bit jealous about watching the grown ups eat, but he did have ducky to keep him company in his time of hunger and wanting.

After lunch, we were off to see the animals! We saw some flamingos, and one was watching us!

Then we walked on a fun bridge!

Then we saw some turtles, and Emery really enjoyed it!

And then we found a bug!

And there was another fun bug next to the first fun bug! It was a bug party!

But wait, just when we thought that there could be no more bug fun to be had, WE FOUND ANOTHER BUG! Woot woot!

After the bug jubilee, we saw a funny bird.

Then there were some lemurs. The kids next to us explained that these were the same animals in the movie 'Madagascar'. And we learned something. Thanks kids!

Then we went to Bamboo trail!

In bamboo trail Emery got tired of being in the stroller, so we front packed it up!

Then we saw some safari animals!

Emery was more concerned with making cute faces at his Mom. Front packs are fun!

We were getting tired, but there was one last thing exhibit to visit....the Elephants! They are Michael's favorites, so they were a must see.

Emery was very happy, and he had a great day. So did Michael and Beka. It was a fun team Oakley adventure!

Thanks for sharing it with us! Family time is the best!

Thanks,
Beka Oakley
