Zoo with Auntie Roxy, Aunt Zonnie and Uncle Cassidy! 7-27-12

Oh how we love the Nashville zoo! We have passes, and it is one of our most FAVORITE things to do!

This time at the zoo, Michael could not make it. He was very busy with work and CYT camp (cytnashville.org go check it out!). So Beka and Emery went without him, but we had a LOT of company with us! We were so happy to have Auntie Roxanne, Aunt Zonnie, and Uncle Cassidy spend the morning with us at the zoo! Happy day!

Emery was happy to have his Aunts and Uncle there. He always loves seeing them, and frankly, being spoiled with their love and attention. It was Auntie Roxanne's first time to the Nashville zoo. She is from San Diego, as is Beka and Michael and Cassidy and Rosanna, so we were all used to the world famous San Diego zoo (world famous for a reason!). Beka and Michael have had a few years to accept that the Nashville zoo is their zoo now, but it was Roxanne's first time to take it all in.

The first stop on our family fun zoo day was the play place!!! The SD zoo kicks the pants of the Nashville zoo on many different levels, but the Nashville zoo gives the SD a swirly in the play place department! IT IS HUGE! Emery can't walk yet (soon) so there is lots he cannot do, but there is a tot lot, where everything is foam and little ones can go in and go crazy! Emery had fun crawling and waving hi to the other kids, but he mostly just sat and took in the fun scene. He loves to people watch, just like his mamma.

After the play place, we took a break to have lunch. Uncle Cassidy and Aunt Zonnie treated Beka and her sister to lunch! What a fun surprise! Beka had a black bean burger from the zoo cafe, and Emery had a sweet potato and carrot pouch. He also snacked on Beka's potato wedges. He LOVES his food!

After lunch we walked and walked and saw so many fun things! After awhile in the heat, we wanted some air conditioning, so we went inside to the reptiles and fish. Emery LOVED it! He loved the fish most of all, which is funny to those of you who really know Beka (she hates fish). Emery was mesmerized by all the colors and movement behind the glass.

This was all fun and games until a huge turtle in the corner of the aquarium scared the bejezuz out of poor sweet Emery. He was very weary of the glass after that.

After the fish and reptiles, we walked and walked and walked some more! We walked until Emery was tired, hot, sweaty, and ready to go home. This was a relief because Beka was just as tired, hot, and sweaty. We were happy to pack up the car and head home for the day.

It was a fun filled day at the Nashville Zoo with family. We are so thankful whenever we get to spend some time with the ones that we love, and we LOVE our little Zoo. Even Roxanne said the Nashville zoo, in all it's small sweetness, may be better than the SD one, in a different way. It does not have the girth or grandeur, but it is pretty quaint and endearing.

Even more important than the zoo you are at is the company you are with, and this day was filled with some pretty cool cats. Thanks for hanging out, Auntie Roxanne, Uncle Cassidy, and Aunt Zonnie!

Love to all,

Team Oakley
(Just Emery and Beka this time)
