12-21-12 The finger painting fail

Team Oakley prides themselves in the gifts they give out on each Christmas. We choose to make our gifts instead of buying them. This started in efforts to save money, and grew into a fun way to bond and put real love and thought into something that you are giving someone. We know you can do this though purchasing gifts, but, for us, the joy is in the doing.

So we had lots of projects going on this December. We wanted Emery to be involved in as many as we could, so we tried to make it so he could help. There was one in particular that we were making for a best friend of ours out here in TN (and Emery's God-dad, who he calls Pep Pep). It was an art piece, so we were going to let Emery finger paint for the first time.

After all, what kid doesn't like finger painting.....right?

Fail.

Beka laid down the newspaper thinking Emery would just go hog wild on these paints. She even taped the paper to the floor. Emery started to get very interested in what was going to happen. She then stripped him to his diaper, and he was eager to start with whatever was upcoming!

Beka put the paint on canvas, set Emery down, and waited with her camera for the glory that is a first finger painting experience. It was not what either of the expected.

Emery stuck his hand right in that paint....

Then Emery was not a fan of having paint on him...

Then emery cried because the paint was still on his hand..

Then Emery touched the paint on his dirty hand with his clean hand...and now he had paint on both hands...

And he did not like that! It was spreading!

So he got up, but in the process of getting up he got paint on other places too!

And that was just awful!

He ran to Beka and threw his sad little painted arms and legs around her (luckily she was dressed for the project at hand!). He was SO upset that he had paint on him! Beka cleaned him off, and gave him many hugs and kisses between giggles. Really? You don't like finger painting?

It was quite the experience. Emery did finish his art work, eventually. Many tears and torment went into that canvas. If will be worth millions someday.

And the memories and photos from this day...they shall forever be priceless.

Thanks for reading all the adventures, and MIS-adventures that we go though.

Love to all,
Team Oakley
