12-29-12 SNOW!

We don't know what a "normal" Nashville winter is.

The first year we moved here we had a HUGE ice storm that encased our house, car, and everything around us in solid ice inches thick. Because this was our first southern winter we thought that was what would happen each year, but we soon realized that was not something to count on.

There is a saying in the south; "If you don't like the weather, wait an hour. It'll change". Team Oakley has seen that proven so true time and time again.

So when we saw that it began to snow outside on this frigid day, and start to stick, we knew we had to celebrate the fluffy white, for soon it would be gone!

Whenever the temp dips low, we always secretly hope for snow. It must be the west coast in our blood.

Emery had stayed at his Nana and Nunu's house the night before, so Beka and Michael picked him up early (because we always miss him so much when he is gone!)

When we got to their house the snow had started!!!

Emery liked to feel the snow melt on his face. It was not sticking to the ground yet, but we danced and sang 'snow snow snow!' in the Michael's parent's front yard like fools.

In the car Emery was pretty excited about coming home to hang out, as you can see. He also had just consumed a cracker, which he kept some on his seat belt for later.

When we got home we settled in for the day. It was cold, and we did not have a car (we were letting a friend borrow ours) so in it was! We opened the curtains to our back yard and had fun watching the snow accumulate.

As you can see it did not amount to much, but we were going to celebrate it anyways! Life should be celebrated, and that includes the weather! We bundled in our warmies (many of which were new from Christmas) and headed out!

Even when you bundle this child he is still so cute!

Emery was not really a fan of wearing mittens, but he kept them on.

We played outside until our cheeks were red and our noses were frozen! Emery would see a small patch of white and immediately point and yell 'SNOW'! It was so fun! We loved it! We even drew a heart on his Nini's car to celebrate our love for snow.

Once inside Michael and Emery had the very important job of making a fort, and eating crackers while Beka made dinner.

Beka got to use her new bakeware from Christmas! We ate some great asparagus (a family favorite vegetable) and beer bread.

After dinner Emery helped clean up. What a guy!

Sorry for the pant less child. We are potty training.

Then it was bed for all. The sound of snowflakes on the windows sang us to sleep that night. We all went to bed very happy.

Thanks for sharing our day!

Love

Team Oakley
