10/27/12 the Franklin Pumpkin Festival!

Today is the Pumpkin festival in down town franklin. Team Oakley loves going to it year after year. Last year Emery was only a tiny little one month old pumpkin! Now he is walking. Oh how time flies!

Michael could not come with Beka and Emery this year because he was doing his Miller's Thriller's haunted woods thing. Bummer, but Beka and Emery were not going to let it spoil their day! They got all bundled with warmies and headed out!

Beka's mom is a very talented woman. She sent Beka these hats with matching scarfs she made. They are so warm too!

Once we found a parking place near by the festival (hard because Beka is not a skilled parallel parker), Beka got her purse all together, then got Emery out. She set him on his feet on the asphalt. He bent down, curious of how the black top felt, lost his balance, and face planted into the street. Boo. Luckily he was only a few inches off the group, but his head on pavement made a horrible thud. He was fine after a bit.  There was no blood, but he got a good goose egg on his forehead. Poor boy.

Once he saw all the fun and heard the music we were walking towards he was happy again! Beka was going to get something warm from Starbucks, but the line was way too long. Boo.

First things first...Emery had to go towards the live music. He dance and danced, and as usual, tried to go on stage with the band.

Everything was decorated with the colors of fall.

Mr. Emery had lots to explore! Watch out!

Yay balloons!

Yay flowers!

Yay for front packs!
Since Emery has started walking we have not used our front pack very often. But Beka busted it out at the festival. After a bit Emery got tired of walking, so into the pack he went and we continued to enjoy the festival conjoined.

After the festival Beka and Emery had one more adventure in store. They went to Miller's thrillers to see dad! We showed up while it was still light out, hoping that Emery could make it through the woods that way.

There was already a HUGE line forming.

But before long, it got dark. We tried taking Emery though the dark woods, but we did not get very far. The poor buy was crying only minuets into it. Beka was scared too, so we cut out early. We are proud of Beka and Emery for at least trying it, but we don't blame them for being scared. It is, afterall, a haunted trail.

After our scares we headed home for bed. Beka and Emery snuggled and sang until Emery was asleep. Beka slept for an hour holding him in his rocking chair. Bliss. There is no better way to end our day.

We had fun, bumps, pumpkins and scares. It was a good day.

Thanks for sharing it with is!

Love,
Team Oakley
