9/14/12 Emery's first canoe ride!

Beka's dad and stepmamma flew into town a few days ago, and her sister, brother, and brother in law flew in last night. To celebrate everyone being here together, we shall go canoeing!

There has been a ton of prep for Emery's birthday party. Michael did not want Beka to be forgotten in all of this. When asked what she wanted to do to celebrate with her family, she said what she usually does when given this choice "lets do something OUTSIDE". For that is Beka's favorite place.

So outside we go! First stop before we hit the water is Marcy Jo's meal house and bakery. It is the best breakfast south of Nashville, dare I say. It is also right by our canoe rental shop so it has become tradition to stuff our faces there before burning off that breakfast with a paddle in hand.

We all pleasantly filled ourselves with the good southern food they have to offer (their homefries are so so so good!)  then made our way down the road to River rats canoe rentals. If you are in middle TN we highly recommend this company! They are super nice and kind.

After we got our canoes rented we headed to the drop off up river. It was a BEAUTIFUL day to be outside!

We got all of the boats lined up and ready to go.

We were scared how emery would do in his life vest. Beka is not a strong swimmer herself, so there was no way she was going to let Emery in the canoe without a vest, but we were sure he would try and take it off, or be miserable in it. But just like our baby, he was awesome! It was not the most comfortable thing, but there was no gripes or whining from this little sailor! Plus, look how darn cute he is in it!

After getting settled we all helped ourselves into the water. We spent hours out there. It was dreamy. Emery was a great sport too! He got tired after a while, but we would pass him from boat to boat and he stayed relatively happy the whole way down the river! What a champ. He is constantly amazing us with his even and casual temperaments and moods. We are blessed.

It was such a gift being out there, on the water, in the nature,  full bellies, with the ones we love the very most. ahh :) blissful.

When we finally came to the end of the river, Michael and Poppa went to get the cars while we waited. Uncle timmy and Emery had a grand ole time throwing rocks into the water. Emery sure does love his uncle Timmy!  Once he got the hang of it, all little Emery wanted to do was throw rocks into the river! He wouldn't even pick them up after a while, he would just push them into the water. It was so fun to see!

Beka found a pack of butterflies amidst all the other bugs hanging out around the river. All of this creation is so wonderful to spend time in :)

Oh what a FUN day it was! We were all VERY tired when we got home, and the majority of us took naps, drank coffee, or did a version of both :). The tired is well worth the memories, photos, and happies we all got out of it.

Tomorrow is Emery's birthday party! Stay tuned and thanks for reading!

Love
